Tokyo Potted Garden

I love the cute little potted gardens popping up around every corner in Tokyo. Don't you?

My mum has the sweetest little veggie patch at her home complete with tomatoes, strawberries, two types of cucumbers and a selection of herbs. I, on the other hand, have a collection of dead and half dying plants left over from the time I went out and spent $250 at the nursery in attempt to create my own Tokyo potted garden.

Today my mum visited and set about sharing some of her gardening tips with me. Together we took cuttings from some of the more alive looking plants and planted them in the unhappiest looking pots. Later my boyfriend came along with the watering can. If in time, we have successfully raised these cuttings, I will secretly know it was because of the love and care from the three of us. Fingers crossed!

An imagined Hello Sandwich wedding and Rebecca Thuss

Anyone who knows me well will know that these images (above) are the inspiration for my wedding! Not that I am planning one at the moment! But if I was, Rebecca Thuss would be the first place I'd visit. So...all you bridezilla's out there - click away! An ex-Martha Stewart Weddings Style Director can't be wrong! Below are some gorgeous things Rebecca has created.

Doesn't it make you want to get married?

Oh no Yoshitomo!

Oh dear! I only just heard the news. Little Yoshitomo Nara was arrested for graffiti and criminal mischief the night before his solo show opening in NYC. In jail the poor petal had to swap his onigiri and chu-hi's for peanut better sandwiches and milk, which he optimistically described as "a nice experience in my life," saying it was "like in the movies". Bless him!

I would love it if Nara-san would graffiti on my walls!

Chicks on Speed

Opening today at Craft Victoria is the Viva La Craft exhibition by Chicks on Speed. Chicks on Speed have been investigating the boundaries of art, craft and music since they first formed in Munich in 1997. In 2009 they bring their interdisciplinary practice to Melbourne, presenting their first Australian solo exhibition Viva La Craft! The exhibition continues until 24th April, giving you Sydney kids enough time to book a flight to Melbourne.

And if you book your Melbourne getaway to coincide with Friday 20th March you can also catch For the love of the objekt instrument event where Chicks on Speed will collaborate with one of my favourite Melbourne artists Dylan Martorell. Stuck in Sydney? Then you could just make it over to Dylan's show at Redfern's Black & Blue Gallery which closes 14th March.

P.S. The animated room on the Chicks on Speed website is kinda fun.
