Hello Sandwich in Yen Magazine!

Hello Sandwiches!

The lovely girls over at Yen Magazine were nice enough to include Hello Sandwich in their current issue which is on sale today! The Hello Sandwich page lists some of my favourite things - mostly Japanese not surprisingly! The issue focuses on Photography and is jam packed with amazing content...A super cute trend page on Dutch style fashion, a very pretty 'i want candy' fashion shoot, and the issue also features some beautiful photography from my gorgeous friend Melanie Watkins. Hello Sandwich on a TVC!

Sandwiches! I have some news! Just before I left for Tokyo a casting agency (who found me through Hello Sandwich weeeee!) contacted me regarding a TV Commercial. I went for the casting a few days before I flew to Tokyo and it's all happened very fast but I got the job!!! eeep! sooooooo exciting!!! So tonight I am flying back to Sydney for two weeks to shoot the commercial.

I'll be back in Tokyo soon though. Just in time for the Tokyo Art Book Fair. I'm making a Tokyo Scrap Book. (Work in progress above)

PAPIPAPI

Today I had lunch in Kichijoji with the super kawaii Mogu-chan! We had the most fun ever! Look at this adorable 'Hello Sandwich' bag she hand painted for me as a birthday present!



Over lunch Mogu showed me some of her amazing sketchbooks!









And we took a lovely walk through the park!




But my ICHIBAN favourite moment of the day was when Mogu suddenly stopped, set up her vintage Xylophone and played me HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! WAAAAA I was soooo lucky!!!

P.S. I accidentally made a mistake today and said Papi instead of Paper (great now not only can I NOT speak Japanese, but I can't speak English either! haha) and now Mogu-chan calls me PAPIPAPI an Papi-chan!

Mamachari

Sandwiches! This is my new mamachari! It's Tiffany Blue with a tan seat, pedals and handles and i just love it!

Who would like to come bike riding around Tokyo with me? I am going to ride to Shibuya next week! Tanoshiminishiteimasu!

Happy Tanabata!

Look at this amazing Tanabata festival I went to in Hiratsuka today! Oh My Goodness it was so beautiful!

I've been in love with Tanabata festival for many years now. Remember this artwork I made that was inspired by this festival? Seeing Tanabata in real life for the first time today has given me so much inspiration for my upcoming show (where I will create another Tanabata-inspired installation) at Sydney's Object Gallery. I'll be hosting a paper craft workshop too so I hope you can come along!

I've also got a little Tanabata tree in my new Tokyo apartment! You could make some decorations for your home too using these cute instructions!

Shimokita Muji is only 7 minutes walk away. Perfect for those furniture and stationery emergencies!



This little local cafe has an organic lunch set for ¥1100 and you can also buy organic vegies from their mini-me market.

Shimokita Station area is always buzzing! But if it's relaxation you are after, best to head over to the nearby park / nature walk. By nature I mean 1 x turtle and 1 x fish.











This park / nature walk takes you almost all the way to Shibuya.



Hmmm I wonder if they will give me a job here! That would be nice wouldn't it!

It's so so wonderful to be a 'Tokyo Resident'! I still keep pinching myself daily and even a week after arriving I can't seem to move this giant smile off my face!

Tomorrow it's furniture shopping day! Hopefully I can find some super cute retro pieces for my new mini-me Barbie-doll-size apartment!
