Kitazawa Details
The little things in Tokyo make me so happy. Seeing a man write kanji characters on a chalk board in the back of a truck on my morning walk. A tiffany blue neatly wound hose on my way home from the supermarket. Spotting some Japanese books someone has given away on the side of the street, neatly presented in an open cardboard box. Plastic planter pots taped up with tan coloured packaging tape. A teeny baby blue rubbish bin with pink ribbons tied on each handle, presumably for identification. Walking through my neighbourhood at 9am you will see obaachans sweeping up leaves from an already neat garden, and at 7pm you can smell the only-in-Japan smell of households taking their daily bath with distinctively Japanese smelling bath products. Here are a few detail shots from my walk around my little neighbourhood today.

烏山 緑道 (Karasuyama Nature Walk)

Another lovely afternoon spent with nature, this time for a jog along the Karasuyama Nature Walk. Gracie and I often have fun spotting the different art tiles along the path. And those super neat colourful spring gardens - waou!
Happy Weekend Sandwiches! I hope you can enjoy some lovely nature this weekend.

みどりの日 (Greenery Day)

A lovely picnic on みどりの日 (Greenery Day) in beautiful Shinjuku Gyoen. Sandwiches, hot green tea, reading books in the sunshine, watching kawaii kids throw balls and roll down grass hills, so many colourful leisure sheets, people taking photos of flowers, afternoon naps on the grass relaxing with sounds of chatter and laughter. This is one of the prettiest parks ever.

Crafternoon

Ros carved a beautiful stripe stamp for us after we inspired by a similar stamp in a craft book.

Thank you Ros for these two pics (above).

This little tree came from the most beautiful tote bag my talented friend Gracie decorated at a Tupera Tupera workshop. Gracies was 1000 times cuter.

Yesterday Ros and I spent a lovely Golden Week crafternoon in Yoyogi Koen. It was so relaxing and inspiring combining our craft materials and setting up a mini craft studio at a park table. Ros brought some cute muji calico bags, felt stickers, markers, screen printing paints and a stamp carving set. And I brought some paper craft materials, stamping set, and a collection of craft books for inspiration. We chatted about life in Tokyo, craft and blogging while we decorated tote bags, envelopes and cards and for a couple of hours we relaxed and enjoyed the fact that being in a park is one of the safest places to be in the event of an earthquake.
Poor Ros cut her self on the stamp carving tool but is now recovering. We discovered yet another use for mt tape :)
