Artist in residence and workshops at Harvest Workroom!

I am coming to Melbourne to be artist in residence at Harvest Workroom from August 6-22 and I'll also be hosting 2 x one day workshops: Hello Fabric and Hello Paper. I hope you can come along! It will be so nice to meet you (and drink amazing Melbourne coffee with you!)

Behind the scenes at the mt school set up!

Sandwiches! Hello!

These are some behind the scenes set up snaps from the mt school for wrapping and exhibition at East Side Tokyo in Yokohama. mt sent me a giant box of tapes and asked me to make five artworks using the tapes. Naturally I couldn't help myself with all of those beautiful products and I ended up making a box full of craft works including books, corsages, envelopes, bags, tags and so on. (um, most fun commission job ever!)






I headed off to Yokohama to hand deliver the craft works. When I arrived the mt team were sitting around a round table busily covering little polystyrene birds with mt tape as part of the installation. A few awkward bows on my behalf and I was pinching myself to think that here I was, chatting with the mt team and having the opportunity to show them artworks I've made with their product. gahhh! Before I moved to Tokyo I could have never imagined that I would be able to do this. When I presented my works two sweet girls from the design company kindly squealed 'kawaiiii', 'kawaiiii!'. Mission accomplished.

The set up looked like so much fun and I desperately didn't want to leave so I asked if I could help at all...before you knew it I was part of the bird taping team, chatting in (my terrible) Japanese and covering everything with masking tape. I stayed for five hours this way. Making a mt covered 'workshop' sign and decorating vases for the exhibition display. Just to be in the same room as the mt set up was pretty incredible for me.






There were boxes of mt tapes everywhere! The installation team were working hard to cover everything in mt tape.







They had made a little wheel display for the workshops with my portrait!

About 9pm I left Yokohama with a smile ear to ear. One of those amazing days that I never thought I would get to experience, but so incredibly happy that somehow they asked me to be a part!

Let's make a pompom cushion cover Workshop!

Let's enjoy making a super cute pompom cushion cover to decorate our rooms at my next Kusakanmuri workshop! Perfect to brighten up any room or also small enough to take to a picnic to rest on. Using the techniques from this lesson, you can make cushion covers for any size cushions! It would also make a lovely present!

Making mt artworks and a walk to Daiso.

よっし！おはよう！Patterned bed linen. Warm morning sunlight after a typhoon night.



Stretch your legs and wake up slowly taking some instagram photos from bed.



Morning coffee with soy milk and capture some morning light in my once-in-a-lifetime-living-in-Tokyo-apartment.



Bring the dining table into the study and stretch out to make artworks for the mt exhibition.



Stop and stare at these pretty scraps for a long time. Polka dots...glitter...stripes...pink...green...



Successfully make a creative mess.



This is what my nails look like when I am too busy.



Pin everything up on little bumpy Japanese apartment walls.



By now it's afternoon. Spring shadows begin to form on my desk. It reminds me I need some things from Daiso. 行ってきます！



With a swish of pink paint this local izakaya could be a Hello Sandwich shop!



I walk here everyday.









Cherry blossoms starting to bloom. It's time for hanami this weekend. I made a picnic rug with Yuko-chan all ready for hanami parties.



Sunlight creeps in between Shimokita buildings and pot plants.



I walk here everyday too.

Back home and there is a fluffy cloud peeking over the view from my balcony.

I don't think I'll ever get sick of days like this.

Hello Sandwich x mt school for wrapping 2012!

Sandwiches! I was asked again to do a mt school for wrapping workshop and also make five artworks for the mt exhibition! This is so much fun!

Hello Sandwich x Martha Stewart Demonstration Day!

We had a wonderful day at the Hello Sandwich x Martha Stewart demonstration day! Each session was fully booked with fifteen people each session. Some super lovely participants gave me gifts of cookies, flowers, tea and handmade origami cards! So sweet! Thank you to everyone who came and everyone who helped especially lovely Motoko-chan! I hope everyone is enjoying making craft with their new Martha Stewart punches now.
