Hello Sandwich Tokyo Scrap Book Making

Photobucket

Hello Sandwich Tokyo Scrap Book Zine making in progress and taking up the entire floor space in my mini-me apartment!

It's such a lovely day here in Tokyo. There is the most gorgeous breeze blowing through my windows. I'm just back from a trip to Daiso to stock up on multi-coloured staples to bind my new zines. I love this area so much! It always makes me smile to walk around! Super cute cafes, the best homewares stores, amazing zakka supply shops and newsagents stocking THE BEST MAGAZINES IN THE WORLD. I also popped into the supermarket for tonight's gyoza ingredients. I couldn't read the kanji on the cold meats so I needed to ask a fellow customer 'sumimasen, kore wa buta desu ka?' and then I went on to say how difficult the kanji was so the sweetheart gave me a mini kanji lesson right there in the meat isle of Ozeki! Bless! Learning more and more Nihongo mainichi!

Well back to zine making now! Have to have these little gems finished by tomorrow night for Tokyo Art Book Fair launch party!

P.S. Listen to lullatones new(ish) album! You'll love it!

Tadaima! I have finished the TVC and am back in Tokyo now! weeee!

I finally got my iphone4 and have been going on an app downloading frenzy! You might notice I've downloaded a Holga app!

It's so hot here in Tokyo at the moment. So hot in fact, that my cheese melted on my plate before I had a chance to get it onto the toast! eeep! So rather than go outside today I've been unpacking my cute ceramics, doing lots of laundry, listening to Ua and planning what delicious Japanese dinner I can cook tonight. Ooooo it's good to be back!

Hope you are all well Sandwiches!

P.S. If you are in Tokyo, and fancy seeing some gorgeous art, pop over to Watarium to see Tam Ochiai, or Mogu Takahashi's exhibition at Galerie doux dimanche.

Hello Sandwich in Yen Magazine!

Hello Sandwiches!

The lovely girls over at Yen Magazine were nice enough to include Hello Sandwich in their current issue which is on sale today! The Hello Sandwich page lists some of my favourite things - mostly Japanese not surprisingly! The issue focuses on Photography and is jam packed with amazing content...A super cute trend page on Dutch style fashion, a very pretty 'i want candy' fashion shoot, and the issue also features some beautiful photography from my gorgeous friend Melanie Watkins. You won't want to miss this issue! Thank you lovely Yen Girls!!!

Special thanks to Nadia for this review on Urban Outfitters! You rock!

In other news the TVC I have been shooting is almost over and I can't wait to head back to Tokyo this Sunday and prepare for the Tokyo Art Book Fair next weekend! If you are in Tokyo please come along! Mogu and I will be at the Arts Chiyoda exhibition.

Hello Sandwich on a TVC!

Photobucket

Sandwiches! I have some news! Just before I left for Tokyo a casting agency (who found me through Hello Sandwich weeeee!) contacted me regarding a TV Commercial. I went for the casting a few days before I flew to Tokyo and it's all happened very fast but I got the job!!! eeep! sooooooo exciting!!! So tonight I am flying back to Sydney for two weeks to shoot the commercial.

I'll be back in Tokyo soon though. Just in time for the Tokyo Art Book Fair. I'm making a Tokyo Scrap Book. (Work in progress above)

Over lunch Mogu showed me some of her amazing sketchbooks!

See the video (take two) here!

Arigatou Mogu-chan for the best day ever! Papipapi!

Mogu and I are doing the TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR together later this month! Hope you can come and visit us! Also Mogu has a solo show on later this month too! If you are in Tokyo please see it!

P.S. I accidentally made a mistake today and said Papi instead of Paper (great now not only can I NOT speak Japanese, but I can't speak English either! haha) and now Mogu-chan calls me PAPIPAPI an Papi-chan!

Happy Tanabata!

Look at this amazing Tanabata festival I went to in Hiratsuka today! Oh My Goodness it was so beautiful!

I've been in love with Tanabata festival for many years now. Remember this artwork I made that was inspired by this festival? Seeing Tanabata in real life for the first time today has given me so much inspiration for my upcoming show (where I will create another Tanabata-inspired installation) at Sydney's Object Gallery. I'll be hosting a paper craft workshop too so I hope you can come along!

I've also got a little Tanabata tree in my new Tokyo apartment! You could make some decorations for your home too using these cute instructions!

Happy Tanabata Everyone!
